  • Ghorepani-Poon Hill Family Lodge Trek and Chitwan Tour, March-April 2013

How disappointed I was when my Himalaya trek with an English company fell through.  Googling ‘trekking in Nepal with kids’ bought me to the site of ‘Swiss Family Trekking’.  What a great find and I am so glad the original holiday was cancelled.  My 11 year old son and I had the most fantastic holiday in Nepal.  As well as trekking in the most amazing landscapes of Annapurna Conservation Area (Ghorepani, Poon Hill, Ghandruck) with a lovely guide, we also enjoyed, hot springs a spa hotel, jungle exploration, elephant rides, white water rafting, cultural experiences and made new friends. I cannot recommend SFT highly enough for the prompt response to my many questions, the tailor made itinerary that covered everything we wanted and more, and the smooth and efficient organisation from the moment we arrived at Kathmandu airport the airport to the time our bags were checked in to leave.  We felt truly looked after.  And not to forget, great value for money.
We loved Nepal and will definitely come back, and it will certainly be with SFT again.  Thank you Stephan, and team.

  • Ghorepani-Ghandruk Circuit (Poon Hill) Family Lodge Trek, 5 Days 21st Oct to 25th Oct 2015

Hi Stephan,
We had a great 5-day trek with Swiss Family. Our two young children (1 and 4) really loved the experience and your guides and porters were really nice in the way that they were always ready to play with them and keep the whole trip very fun for them (and us). The children really liked the combination of walking and going on the horses. All the arrangements were very smooth and accomodation was good. It was clear that all your team of porters and guides were very experienced with the route and ensured that we kept safe. Hiking up to Poon Hill at 5am and seeing the dawn come up across Dhauligiri and Annapurna as a family was really special. We are already thinking about an Annapurna Base Camp trek with Swiss Family next year...Thanks to you and your team. I would highly recommend Swiss Family.

  • GHOREPANI-GHANDRUK CIRCUIT (POON HILL) FAMILY LODGE TOUR & TREK AND CHITWAN TOUR, 13 DAYS, 7TH DEC TO 19TH DEC 2015

Reference for Swiss Family Trek and Expedition,
We travelled in Nepal for 2 weeks.  The entire itinerary was organised by Swiss Family Trek and Expedition (SFTE).  We were met at the airport and taken to Stephan’s house.   He and his daughter made our family (our children are 14,12 and 9) feel very welcome and comfortable.
We travelled to Pokhara with our guide Lalu and spent the day sightseeing before starting our 6 day Poon Hill  trek in the Annapurnas. Lalu was a great guide.  He looked after our children and was lots of fun.  He understood what we wanted from the trek and delivered a fantastic experience.
We then went to Chitwan, where the accommodation was 5 star without the price, and finished in Kathmandu.
We recommend SFTE as a quality organisation who provided a wonderful and safe  family experience holiday.

  • Ghorepani-Ghandruk Circuit (Poon Hill) Family Lodge Trek, 7 Days, From 7 August to 13 August 2016

The 7-day trekking course near Annapurna was a memorable time for Cass and I.  I read about Stephan's tour operation in The Guradian, contacted them and everything since has been smooth and easy experience from getting detailed itinerary, pre-trip planning, arrival at the Kathmandu airport, transfer and the trek.  We were in the Annapurna area (course included flying from Kathmandu to Pokhara, trek to Poon Hills and down) in early August which meant that it was wet but we did manage to enjoy intermittent sunshine and early morning unveiling of the majestic mountaintops.  Our guide Karma Sherpa was professional and porter Mahindra was a 20-something herculean of sorts. A pleasant footnote to the trip was an unexpected invitation from Stephan to his village home outside Kathmandu for an afternoon of tea and early evening send off dinner before our midnight flight back.  Cass and I had a wonderful time being in the hospitality of Stefan and his family, free flowing conversations on the latest movies we saw, US election predictions and the demise of world sporting organizations.  And we got to stretch our legs little (!) in his upstairs studio with a picturesque view from the balcony.
Thanks Stefan!

Dear Stephan,
My husband and I would like to thank you for the amazing poonhill trekking experience.  It was truly an achievement for us, sea level people, to climb the thousands of rocky slippery and steep mountain steps all the way to Poonhill and back.
Special thanks to dear Mr Madan for taking such good care of us every step of the way. Such a humble and well-mannered person! Also thanks to Tikka and Lal for carrying our luggage up the mountain and back down and taking care of our meals' menu order!
Pokhara and the Anapurna area are truly of spectacular beauty. So rich with water, untouched sources of energy!
I have attached some photos of our trip to Poonhill.

Dear Stephan
Thank you so, so much for a wonderful holiday. We trekked the Poon Hill circuit with our two young children. It was so brilliant. Our guide, Modern, was very gentle and wonderful with the kids. Our daughter choose to walk with him every day, saying he was better at helping her down the steep bits than I was :) Our kids also loved Caloo our surefooted mountain pony who helped carry the kids when their legs got too tired!!!The horseman was fantastic. Our porters looked after us so well. All the staff were helpful, kind and really just fantastic and helped make our trip brilliant.Every part of the trip was well planned and executed. We did not have to worry about anything and could just enjoy the mountains and the people we met. I would highly recommend Swiss Family Treks, Take your kids and go trekking with this great company
