Situated in the Eastern Himalayas, this beautiful state of Sikkim is sandwiched between  Nepal in the West and Bhutan in the East, Tibet in the North and the state of West Bengal in the South. With an area of 7'300km2, measuring 115km from north to south and 65km. From East to West, the elevation ranging from 244m to over 8550m above sea level, approximate latitude of 27degree North and longitude of 88degree East. This small state belies its richness of culture, customs, heritage, flora and fauna. Sikkim, once a protectorate of India with a monarchy government but metamorphosed as the 22nd state of the Indian Union in the year 1975. The population of the state is only 420'000 as per the last census. Amidst the grandeur of the mountain peaks, lush green valleys cascading waterfalls and fast flowing rivers, beautiful monasteries and terraced hills, Sikkim offers her visitor a rare and exotic experience.

Nestling in the grandeur and beauty of the snow-capped mountain ranges of the Kanchenjunga. Sikkim and Darjeeling have been gifted with a beautiful natural scenery. It is surrounded by lush green tea gardens, and has the highest Railway Station in the world. The Darjeeling 'Toy Train' is part of the world's cultural heritage. The town of Darjeeling, also known as "Queen of the (Eastern) Hills", was the summer capital of India during the British period. A holiday resort of the Victorian era, it still exudes grandeur, charm and majesty. From "Tiger Hill" one can get one of the best sunrise views in the world.
