Langtang Valley Short Trek is the perfect trek for the beginners who have no idea where to begin and the veterans looking for something different. Through dense forests filled with pine, oak, and blooming rhododendron, we head upwards right at the foot of the Himalayas. Experiencing the unique culture of the Tamang people can be a culturally and historically enriching experience as the traditions and ways of life have been passed down from generation to generation and kept away from the traps of modernization. Although close to the city the rich ecosystem is maintained and the heartwarming hospitality of the locals despite their own troubles is certainly inspiring.
Situated north of Kathmandu, Langtang Valley Trekking is famous for its rich culture and natural wonders. The trekking route meanders through dense forests of oak and rhododendron and deep gorges of Bhote Koshi and Langtang Khola. The stunning views of snow-capped mountains like Langtang Lirung (7227m), Langshisha Ri (6427m), Langtang Ri (7205m), Ganesh Himal (7422m) and other mountains can be seen. Langtang Valley Short Trek is one of the most famous trekking routes after Annapurna and Everest region. The region showcases the Tamang ethnic group among other ethnically Tibetan groups. Langtang Valley Trekking starts with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubensi. Along the way, the road enters into the Langtang National Park which is home to such rare and wonderful animals like the Snow leopard, and the Red panda. This Langtang Valley Trek incorporates the ancient Kyanjin Gompa (Monastery) and cheese manufacturing factories that can be wonderful cultural experiences for the travelers around the world. Kyanjin Gompa is the oldest and most important monastery of Tamang people living here. This trek provides everyone a great opportunity to experience village life of the Tamang and other inhabitants that have also migrated more recently from Tibet. Interaction is guaranteed to delight and locals as the exchange of language and culture can be a fun learning experience. The trek is shorter in length than many treks in the Himalayan Region and therefore much more accessible to those travelers with short holiday. It is also much closer to Kathmandu, being just a short day’s drive from the capital city.
