Our two family group of four adults and 4 teenagers wanted to do a longer trek in the Annapurna region during early January 2019 avoiding the busier routes. Swiss Family Treks combined the Khopra danda trek with the Mohare danda trek to make a fantastic twelve day trek. On day three we departed from a popular walking circuit after which we saw only a handful of other trekkers. The route past through a huge variety of environments and we mostly stayed in community lodges that raise funds for the employment of teachers schools in nearby villages. There was a really nice mix of wilderness trekking combined with some really interesting stays in isolated villages such as Swanta and Nangi. Swiss Family Treks were really flexible and all communication was super easy and everything was organised on our arrival . They use a Swiss developed water filtration system (Lifestraw) which meant none of us had any illness during the trek. To our guide Ashta and four porters, thank you so much for everything you did to make our trip unforgettable!
For anyone considering a winter walk, yes it gets cold at night, but it skies were mostly blue and daytime walking temperatures below 2500m were fairly mild. We only had a little snow but no rain and would happily trek in winter again. Andrew Black Family and Fiona Angelatos Family (4 Adults and 4 teenagers from Australia)
