Jomsom Muktinath Trek for families (Perfect Holiday for Monsoon), 10 Days

Days: 10 / Difficulty: 3 of 5 (Moderate to strenuous)
Min Group Size: 3 / Max Group Size: 6

Jomsom Muktinath, being the rain-shed areas of the Annapurna region, is the perfect place to travel if you have planned your family holiday during the monsoon season in Nepal. This Jomsom Muktinath trek is an ideal vacation for your family as it features the picturesque deserts of Mustang along with the holy temple of Muktinath, giving the best of both nature and culture.

The journey to Jomsom Muktinath is not lush green, but the beauty in the dry and barren vastness is sure to leave you baffled. The rocky roads, the great canyons, and the windy afternoons are all characteristics of the Jomsom Muktinath trek that makes this trek different and unique. A visit to Dhumba Lake situated in the foothills of Nilgiri Peak (7061m) marks the start of this amazing journey. The trek then takes you to the apple orchards of Marpha, where you and the children can enjoy apples served in many ways—fresh, dried, jam, or fermented. Above all, witnessing how the social life thrives in such a difficult terrain will show you the real rural life of Nepal. Your children will certainly enjoy interacting with the children there, and also playing with the livestock, including yak, horses, mules, and donkeys. Throughout the trail, you can get vibes of Buddhism as there are a lot of monasteries, Chortens, Mani walls, and prayer flags. Muktinath Temple, however, is a sacred shrine for both Hindus and Buddhists, which welcomes thousands of pilgrims every year. Taking a bath from the 108 stone spouts is believed to cleanse you of your sins and bring salvation. Since Mustang had remained an autonomous region for a long time, there are many interesting legends and stories of this mystical land. Listening to those stories from our guide and the local people will certainly keep your children excited and engaged.

Swiss Family Treks and Expedition has been providing excellent travel services to travelers from all around the world for the last 15 years.
