Gosaikunda Lake Trek is one of the most popular religious pilgrimage family treks in Langtang Region of Nepal. Gosaikunda Lake trekking offers us to visit the Secret Lake which is also known as “The Frozen Lake”, ancient monastery, traditional cultures, wildlife as well as beautiful mountains scenery. The lake is grand and picturesque. Every year,during Janai Purnima in August. Thousands of Hindus pilgrims come here for worship and bath. Many Shamans come from all over the Nepal in this lake and show their performance in the full moon. The large rock in the centre of the Lake is said to be the remains of a Shiva shrines and it is also claimed that a channel carries water from the lake directly to the tank at the Kumbeswor Temple in Patan. We have a excellent view of mountains like Langtang Lirung, Ganesh Himal, Surya peak, Dorje Lakpa, Gaurisankar and other peaks.

Gosaikunda Lake Trek Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu
Arrival in Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport and you will be met at the airport by our representative who will be waiting with a Swiss Family Treks sign outside the terminal and transfer to Hotel by private car. Welcome drink and after you settle into the hotel there will be a group briefing with your tour leader. He will discuss the trek details and co-ordinate any last minute arrangements. Stay overnight at Hotel.
Day 2: Full Day Guided Sightseeing Tour in Kathmandu Valley by private van.
After brekafast in the hotel, Drive to Swayambhunath Stupa which is very close form the centre of Kathmandu. It takes some minutes to be there. This Temple is also known as Monkey Temple which is considered to be self made Stupa. Then visit to Boudhanath Stupa: the biggest stupa in Nepal and one of the bigger stupa in the world. You can basically experience Tibetan Buddhism, culture and way of life in Boudhanath Area. Boudhanath area is the authentic place to buy Tibetan stuffs. Again you will be visit Pashupatinath Temple and it is one of the most sacred temples in the entire Hindu world. It is a sacred place where Hindus come to die and to be cremated. The temple of Pashupatinath is a large double roofed, gilt pagoda, decorated with brass, the gateway is plated with silver. There are images of Shiva along with other statues, shrines and temples dedicated to other deities in the complex. A circuit of the Pashupati area takes visitors past a sixth-century statue of the Buddha, an eight-century statue of Brahma the creator and numerous other temples. There are rows of Shiva shrines and Hindu pilgrims from all over south Asia offering ceremonies to worship Shiva, the Lord of Destruction. Stay overnight at Hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 3: Drive from Kathmandu to Dunche 2030m by private vehicle (5/6 hours).
In the morning after breakfast, drive from Kathmandu to Dunche by private vehicle which takes about 6 hours. The road is quite smooth until reaching Trisuli and we will have lunch there. After lunch, the road follows roughly with dust till Dunche. We have great views of Langtang Lirung and Ganesh Himal during the drive. We can visit the village and Tamang Museum. Overnight in Lodge.
Day 4: Trek from Dunche to Sing Gompa 3210m (4/5 hours).
Today, we start to climb up passing the Agriculture Farm in Dunche and gaining the high elevation until reaching Sing gompa which takes about 4 hours to reach. We will have lunch there. After lunch, we can visit old monastery and Cheese factory. We have a great view of Langtang Lirung and Ganesh Himal. Overnight in Lodge.
Day 5: Trek from Sing Gompa to Gosaikunda 4380m (4/5 hours).
We leave the village and follow the trail that gently ascends the mountain flank with bare trees until reaching Lauribina which takes about 3 hours. We will have lunch there. We have also panoramic view of Langtang Lirung, Ganeh Himal, Manaslu and Annapurna Himal. After lunch, we continue our altitude trek on a rocky trail passing the first lake Saraswotikund, second lake Bhairabkund and third lake of course Gosaikund until reaching Gosaikunda. It takes about 2 hours. Gosaikund is the site for a great pilgrimage in August each year. The large rock in the centre of the lake is said to be the remains of a Shiva shrine. Overnight in Lodge.
Day 6: Exploration Day
Today we have full day to explore the many holy lakes in this area. We can visit all round the lakes and acclimatize with altitude. Stay overnight in Lodge.
Day 7: Trek from Gosaikunda to Gopte 3430m (6/7 hours) via Lauribinayak Pass 4610m.
We are going to pass the Lauribina-La pass which is in the elevation of 4610m high above the sea level. We start our trek after breakfast, the trail continues through the rocky and gentle ascents until reaching Lauribina-La which takes about 2 hour. Then we climb down slowly in the rough steep terrain until reaching Phedi. It takes about 1and half hour and will have lunch break there. Then again, we continue a long and gentle descent till Gopte which takes about 1 hour. Overnight in Lodge.
Day 8: Trek from Gopte to Mangengoth 3220m (5/6 hours).
In the morning after breakfast, we keep walking short descent to small cave and the trail continues small ascents and descents till Kharka which takes about 1 and half hour. Then the trail continues steep and rocky until reaching Tharepati which takes about 1 hour. We will have lunch break there. We have also a great view of Jugal Himal and Rolwaling Himal. After lunch, we continue level trail in the ridge and climb down through the forests until Mangengoth. It takes about 3 hours. Overnight in Lodge.
Day 9: Trek from Mangengoth to Gul Banjyang 2130m (5/6 hours).
In this day, we start our trek after breakfast. The trail continues through the Rhododendrons bushes until reaching Kutumsang village which takes about 3 hours. We will have lunch break there. We can see the some Chhortens and Mani Wall in this village. After lunch, we continue again your trek short ascents and the trail gently descends through the forests until reaching Tamang village in Gul Bangjang. It takes about 3 hours. Overnight in Lodge.
Day 10: Trek from Gulbanjyang to Chisapani 2215m (5/6 hours).
In this morning after breakfast, the trail gentle ascends passing the small monastery and many Buddhist monuments until the small pass which takes about 1 and half hour. Then the trail descends until reaching Chipling and it takes about 2 hours. We will have lunch break there. After lunch, we continue our trek keep descending in the many steps trail till Pathibanjyang. It takes about 2 hours. Then the trail continues gentle up until reaching Chisopani. It takes about 1 hour. We have a great view of Jugal Himal, Rolwaling Himal, Manaslu and Annapurna Himal. Overnight in Lodge.
Day 11: Trek from Chisapani to Sundarijal 1460m (5/6 hours) and Kathmandu by private vehicle.
We start our trek after breakfast, the trail keep ascending until reaching Borlung Banjyang and again gentle descends through the deep forest until reaching Mulkharka village which takes about 3 hours. We will have lunch break there. We have also good view of Kathmandu valley from this village. After lunch, we continue to keep descending through the deep forests until reaching Sudarijal which takes about 2 hours. Now we are near the Kathmandu city and our private vehicle come to pick up us in Sundarijal. Drive from Sundarijal to Kathmandu and transfer to Hotel.
Day 12: Full Day Guided Sightseeing Tour in Bhaktapur and Patan Durbar square by private van
After breakfast, we are going to visit two historical monuments which represent early and late medieval history, architecture, culture and religion. Bhaktapur Durbar square is an ancient newari city, 13 kilometers far from Kathmandu stores numbers of Hindu temples, 55 windowed medieval durbar and offers you various examples of metal smith and wooden craft along with the opportunity of exploring traditional pottery work to the another corner. Patan durbar square is equally important which represents late medieval history, Culture and architecture. Stay overnight at Hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 13: Final Departure from Kathmandu
Your trip will come to an end today after breakfast. Your leader will be on hand to advise and assist with your onward travel arrangements and transfer to Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport by our private van around 3 hours before your flight schedule and flight back to your home/other travel destination.
Note: Depending on the ages of children, they get discount in trek cost and domestic flight ticket cost accordingly. Also Horse renting in Langtang Region is USD 65 per day per horse including horse man, his food, accommodation, salary and insurance.
