Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,340 m)
Welcome to Nepal! Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, our representative will warmly greet you and transfer you to your hotel. After check-in, you can relax after your journey or explore the vibrant streets of Kathmandu at your own pace. Later, you will meet your trekking guide for a detailed briefing about the upcoming Lumba Sumba Pass Trek. We will discuss the trekking route, preparations, permits, and any final arrangements to ensure you are fully ready for this remarkable Himalayan adventure. Day 2: Full-Day Guided Sightseeing Tour in Kathmandu Valley
Today, you will explore the cultural treasures of Kathmandu Valley with an experienced guide and private vehicle. The tour includes some of Nepal’s most significant UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including Swayambhunath Stupa, Pashupatinath Temple, and Boudhanath Stupa. Swayambhunath offers magnificent views of the Kathmandu Valley, while Pashupatinath introduces you to Nepal’s deep Hindu traditions and spiritual practices. After completing the necessary entry procedures at the Kanchenjunga Conservation Area checkpoint, you will begin walking along peaceful trails beside the river. The route passes through the small settlement of Pembu before gradually climbing through forested hills toward Lelep, the headquarters of the conservation area. En route, you will visit a monastery and enjoy the tranquil atmosphere of the surrounding hills before reaching Gowatar for a short break. The journey continues through forests and past impressive waterfalls before crossing the Tamor River and climbing gradually toward Ila Danda. Located on a scenic ridge, Ila Danda offers magnificent views of the surrounding mountains, including Kasturi Peak, and the dramatic Tamor Valley below. Day 6: Trek from Ila Danda to Selep Kharka (2,525 m/4-5 hours)

The route passes through beautiful rhododendron, maple, and bamboo forests while following peaceful mountain trails surrounded by incredible biodiversity. This region is well known as an important habitat for the endangered red panda, and lucky trekkers may occasionally spot one hidden among the bamboo groves. After crossing suspension bridges and enjoying the natural beauty of the forest, you will reach Maguwa for lunch before continuing through a remote and scenic landscape toward Selep Kharka. Surrounded by mountains and alpine scenery, this campsite marks your transition from the lower forests into the higher Himalayan environment that awaits on the approach to Lumba Sumba Pass. Day 7: Trek from Selep Kharka to Olangchung Gola (3,208 m/3-4 hours)
Today’s trail continues along the upper section of the Tamor River, leading deeper into the remote landscapes of eastern Nepal. The trek passes through beautiful rhododendron and alpine forests, crossing suspension bridges and following peaceful mountain paths surrounded by dramatic Himalayan scenery. After reaching Jongim, a scenic valley surrounded by snow-capped hills, the trail continues through forested landscapes toward Ramite, where you can enjoy views of deodar and rhododendron forests. Continuing further, you will finally arrive at Olangchung Gola, one of the most culturally significant villages in the region. You can visit the historic Diki Chhyoling Monastery, explore traditional stone-paved paths, and observe the peaceful daily life of local people. The trail gradually climbs through remote mountain landscapes where traditional stone markers guide the way through the rugged terrain. Passing through pine, rhododendron, and alpine vegetation, you will experience the untouched beauty of one of Nepal’s least-explored trekking regions. The route follows ancient trails once used by local traders and yak herders traveling between Nepal and Tibet. After several hours of walking, you will reach Langmale for a rest before continuing toward Sanjung Kharka. Day 10: Trek from Sanjung Kharka to Pass Camp (4,747 m/4-5 hours)
Today’s trek takes you closer to the highest point of your adventure as you continue through the remote alpine landscapes of the eastern Himalayas. The trail follows the upper Tamor River through rugged valleys where vegetation becomes increasingly sparse and the scenery becomes more dramatic with every step. This isolated region is home to rare Himalayan wildlife, including snow leopards, Himalayan blue sheep, and other mountain species. After reaching Yangetar for a break, the trail continues gradually upward toward Pass Camp, the final campsite before crossing the legendary Lumba Sumba Pass. Day 11: Trek from Pass Camp to Yak Kharka (4,595 m/6-7 hours) via Lumba Sumba Pass (5,159 m)
Today is the most challenging and memorable day of the entire Lumba Sumba Pass Trek as you cross the spectacular Lumba Sumba Pass at 5,159 meters. Starting early in the morning, the trail gradually climbs through rugged alpine terrain toward the summit. Standing on the pass, you will be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks, including magnificent landscapes of the Kanchenjunga and Makalu regions. After enjoying this incredible achievement, you will descend carefully through remote mountain terrain toward Yak Kharka. This high-altitude crossing offers a true sense of adventure and accomplishment, taking you through one of Nepal’s most isolated and extraordinary trekking routes. Day 12: Trek from Yak Kharka to Thudam (3,500 m/3-4 hours)
After the challenging crossing of Lumba Sumba Pass, today’s trek follows a gradual descent toward the remote village of Thudam. As you leave the high alpine environment behind, the landscape begins to change, with greener valleys, forests, and signs of traditional mountain settlements appearing along the route. The trail follows ancient paths connecting Nepal and Tibet, and you will pass a junction where one route heads toward the Tibetan border while the other continues toward Thudam. By afternoon, you will reach this small Sherpa village, home to only a few traditional households. Surrounded by mountains and isolated from the modern world, Thudam offers a rare opportunity to experience authentic Himalayan culture and the warm hospitality of local communities. Day 13: Trek from Thudam to Yak Kharka (2,877 m/5-6 hours)

The trail follows the scenic Chujung Khola through peaceful forests and remote landscapes, offering magnificent views of the Makalu region. As you walk through bamboo groves, rhododendron forests, and lush vegetation, you enter one of the important habitats for the endangered red panda and various Himalayan bird species. The route provides a wonderful contrast to the high alpine landscapes experienced earlier in the trek, with greener surroundings and warmer climates gradually returning. After several hours of walking through this untouched Himalayan wilderness, you will arrive at Yak Kharka, a peaceful resting place surrounded by nature and mountain scenery. Day 14: Trek from Yak Kharka to Linggam (2,250 m/5-6 hours)
Leaving Yak Kharka behind, today’s journey continues through beautiful forest trails and remote mountain landscapes. The route descends gradually through dense rhododendron forests, where the peaceful sounds of birds and flowing streams create a refreshing trekking experience. As there are few settlements along the way, the trail offers a true sense of solitude and adventure. After reaching the Arun River, you will cross a suspension bridge before making a gradual climb toward Chyamtang, a traditional Sherpa village known for its warm hospitality and unique mountain culture. Continuing for another hour through scenic surroundings, you will arrive at Linggam village. This peaceful settlement provides an opportunity to experience the simple lifestyle of local communities living in the remote eastern Himalayas. Day 15: Trek from Linggam to Hongon (2,325 m/5-6 hours)
Today’s trek takes you through the beautiful forests and cultural landscapes of the Arun Valley. This region is well known among nature lovers and birdwatchers due to its incredible biodiversity and rich wildlife. After a pleasant walk, you will reach Gimbar Village, where you can enjoy stunning views of snow-capped peaks in the Makalu range. From here, the trail continues through scenic hills and traditional settlements before reaching Hongon, a larger Bhote village with a unique cultural identity influenced by Tibetan traditions. The morning begins with a pleasant walk from Hongon to Hatiya, passing through traditional villages and beautiful landscapes of eastern Nepal. Hatiya is an important settlement and serves as one of the entry points to the Makalu Barun National Park region. After reaching Hatiya, you will leave the trekking trail behind and continue by private Jeep toward Tumlingtar. The scenic drive follows mountain roads through hills, forests, and rural communities, providing one last opportunity to appreciate the diverse landscapes of this remarkable region. Day 17: Fly from Tumlingtar to Kathmandu (1,340 m/50 minutes)
After breakfast, you will transfer to Tumlingtar Airport for a scenic flight back to Kathmandu. The short mountain flight offers beautiful aerial views of the hills, valleys, and Himalayan landscapes that you have explored during your Lumba Sumba Pass Trek. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, our representative will welcome you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel.
