Days: 17 / Difficulty: 4 of 5 (Strenuous)
Min Group Size: 1 / Max Group Size: 12

Makalu Base Camp Trek is one of the toughest and most thrilling treks Nepal has to offer. However, it’s not as widely famous as other trekking destinations in Nepal hence its off-beaten paths are relatively quieter and solitary. Makalu Base Camp Trek, the trek to the base camp of world’s 5th highest summit, is one of the most underrated trek routes in the country. Makalu Base Camp Trek is a perfect trek for adventure seekers who want to explore the isolated areas of the Himalayan country and learn about the Himalayan culture and lifestyle of people living in the higher altitude.

In this 17 days long Makalu Base Camp Trek, the trekkers get a chance to discover the beautiful villages of Tibetan and Sherpa communities in the tranquil Himalayas. Also, the trekkers will trek along Arun Valley and Barun Valley which are two of the remotest parts of the country. Hence, they will get to learn about the struggle of living in these sorts of areas. Makalu Base Camp Trek also gives trekkers an opportunity to view Mt. Everest (8848m) from a unique perspective. After a tough climb to Makalu Base Camp (4870m), the trekkers will relish the alluring view of Mt. Everest (8848m), Mt. Makalu (8468m), Mt. Kanchenjunga (8586m), Lhotse (8516m), Baruntse (7129m), Chamlang (7319m), and other Himalayas in the eastern side of Nepal. Makalu Base Camp Trek also features Makalu Barun National Park, which is home to varieties of floras and faunas. Makalu Base Camp Trek is the best trek for the trekkers who seek thrills and have guts to explore new places.
