Days: 25 / Difficulty: 5 of 5 (Very Strenuous)
Ramdung Peak is situated south of the Teshilabtsa pass, which borders Khumbu and the immense Rolwaling valley. Crossing the pass into the remote valley of Rolwaling takes you to the rarely climbed peak of Ramdung. Your climb of this 'hidden peak' of the Himalayan wilderness begins with a trek into the Rolwaling valley, just recently opened to trekkers. You first make an ascent up lower Ramdung, which, despite its lack of height compared to Parchamo, offers a challenging climb, requiring two high camps on the northeast face route. Under this trip we have program to ascent two peaks Ramdung Go Peak, located in the remote Rolwaling valley. This can be defined as superb alpine climbing. As the Rolwaling is Nepal’s superlative high Himalayan valley, this trip offers you the marvelous vista of the snowcapped mountains including Gauri Shankar, Melungtse and Tashi Peak. Not only the mountain views, the trip also give you an opportunity to observe the local culture, custom and lifestyle. As most of the part of this trek inhabited by Sherpa community, you have great chance to see their way of life and tradition. The views of Melungtse and Gauri Shankar are the spectacular from the top of Ramdung Go Peak. Walking through paddy fields, villages, riverbanks, forests and higher pastures will make your trip pleasant. On the other hand, ascending to Ramdung Go Peak on snow, crossing Tashi Lapcha La Pass over glacier moraine and ascent on Parchomo Peak give you challenge. Seen from the pass the mountain is an attractive but straightforward snow peak with a well defined north by north west ridge rising from the relatively flat, crevassed glacier astride the Tesi Lapcha. To the west of the ridge the face forms a uniform snow slope broken by crevasses and small sera’s rising from the rocky lower buttresses above the Drolambau Glacier. Parchomo peak has become a derringer climb for trekkers crossing the high Tasi Lapcha 5,755m to Namche Bazaar in the Everest area. The peak can be combined with the more demanding Ramdung Go peak combined with the trek over the Tesi Lapcha. Pachharmo peak 6,273m lies south of the Tesi Lapcha and, when seen from the pass the mountain is really attractive. It is a straightforward snow peak first climbed in 1955 along a well defined north-by-northwest ridge rising from a relatively flat, but crevassed, glacier that is still the main route to the summit. The Rolwaling valley is the main access to Pachharmo, We climb north-east of the icefall of Tesi Lapcha, setting up a high camp just below rock walls at 5,500m. From this camp we gain the ridge of Parchomo, following it without much difficulty - but watching for crevasses, which can cause problems near the summit. The approach trek to Parchomo in the Rolwaling Himal leads through a region, which has remained untouched by western civilization, and groups of trekkers are not often seen, even in the peak trekking seasons. The scenery is outstanding, the route leads along beautiful river valleys before emerging in high alpine country and there are excellent views of Gaurisankar, Melungtse and many other great peaks. Crossing the Tashi Laptsa pass is challenging and calls for some mountaineering experience.
