Days: 18 / Difficulty: 4 of 5 (Strenuous)

Nar Phu Valley Trek traverse Tilicho Lake is one of the off-beaten treks in Nepal that features the hidden valleys of Nar and Phu located north of the Annapurna massif. Trekking in Nar Phu valley was only opened in 2003 and remains a restricted area requiring entry permits, hence, the villages and the terrain of the valley have stayed quaint and pristine. Nar Phu Valley Trek offers the breathtaking view of massive mountain peaks, natural diversity, traditional remote villages, Tibetan lifestyle, high passes, and pristine lakes and waterfalls.

The 18-days trek to Nar Phu Valley and Tilicho Lake offers an opportunity to explore the wild and uncharted areas of Nepal. The journey starts with the drive from Kathmandu to Jagat. You begin the trek following the gradual up and down trek to Dharapani. On your way, you come across several passes, unique rock formations, narrow canyons, glaciers, the forested path filled with rhododendrons and oaks, ancient monasteries, and traditional village settlements. The trek takes you to the beautiful Phu village, where you can visit the old Buddhist Monastery known as Tashi Lakhang Monastery (listed in the 108 world’s greatest Buddhist monasteries). The trekking trail then leads to Nar village, which offers the extraordinary view of Pisang Peak (6091m). The trek also requires crossing the challenging high passes of Kang-La (5322m) and Mesokanto-La (5200 m). The trail passes through the beautiful village of Manang before reaching the turquoise Tilicho Lake, which is the world’s highest lake. The trekking journey ends in the town of Jomsom. This trekking route offers trekking in the most remote and untouched areas of the Annapurna region.
