Trek Route
The exciting 13 days trekking journey starts from the bustling city of Kathmandu. After spending a night in Kathmandu, you take a scenic flight to Pokhara, where a mesmerizing panorama of mountains instantly surrounds you. A short drive from Pokhara takes you to Kimche, from where you start the journey on foot.
The short trek to Ghandruk from Kimche is filled with the panorama of stunning mountain ranges like Mt. Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, and Annapurna Range. The same stunning mountain backdrop follows till Tadapani from where the actual off-beaten trails start.
Upon reaching Khopra ridge through the Annapurna Region's thrilling terrains, you are met with the lovely view of Annapurna South. On the 7th day, after a warm coffee cup in the lodge, the trekking route reaches the stunning Khayer Lake (4500m). Excursion around the glistening lake takes almost 8-9 hours, where you can enjoy the view of lovely mountain panoramas. The remaining days are spent trekking down to Pokhara through the beautiful Swanta village, Mohare Danda, Nangi, and Galeshwor. For the last day, you take a hike to the World Peace Stupa for the breathtaking bird's eye view of Pokhara valley and Fewa Lake. The short flight back to Kathmandu from Pokhara signals the end of your trek.
If you wish, you can also take the alternate route from Galeshwor, passing through the scenic Poon Hill along the way. This route connects back to the main route of Ghorepani Trek in Tadapani. Or you can choose the more secluded route that starts from Tatopani.
Accommodation: Staying at Community Lodges/Homestays
Most, if not all, available in the trekking route is small community lodges and homestays. The residents mostly run these. The rooms provided will often be one-bed bedrooms with a pair of warm blankets and a pair of pillows. These homestays are the perfect chance for travelers to get a taste of life in Nepal's rural areas. The stay is made even more enjoyable in the presence of welcoming hosts who live by the rule that "all visitors are a form of blessing."
Food: Locally grown and organic foods
The local homestays provide you with only local home-grown foods. The vegetables are grown organically, usually without any pesticides, and are good for your health. These uniquely prepared foods also represent the rich culture of people living in these secluded areas. Typically meals are served two times a day, usually including Dal, Bhat, Curry, and Roti. You might not get to taste such a unique blend of spices anywhere else in the world.
