BARDIA NATIONAL PARK

In an area known as Terai in the west of Nepal is another excellent place for discovery called Bardia National Park. Bounded on the north by the Churia Hills and skirted on the west by the Geruwa River this predominantly Sal forest sprinkled with tall grasslands is easily the largest and least disturbed wilderness. It is here that your chances of spotting a Tiger in Nepal are the highest. Other animals include the rhinoceros, swamp deer, leopards, smaller jungle cats, blue bulls, sloth bear, barking deer, and languor. Among the dizzying amount of wildlife are a few wild elephants. The Geruwa River cuts the hill range and is home to the famous masher game fish, Gharial, marsh mugger crocodiles and the freshwater Gangetic dolphins. The park boasts more than 250 species of birds, including the endangered Bengal florican, Sarus crane and many species of geese, duck, and parakeets. It truly is a wildlife sanctuary and should not be missed if you really want to see the rich biodiversity of Nepal. The best time to visit Royal Bardia National Park is from October through June.

Light fabric and color clothing with sunglasses and a hat from April onwards. Pants should be worn during elephant rides. We highly recommend avoiding bright colors such as red and white since those colors have been known to upset the rhinos. Comfortable walking shoes are essential. Please carry only the bare necessities but not jewelry and valuable items. During the warmer months, swimming suits are recommended. This is only a small list so please take your time considering all your personal needs for this trip.
