Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu 1,350m
Upon our arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, we will be warmly greeted by a representative from Swiss Family Treks. After completion of your custom formalities (Visa, etc), we pick up your luggage and look for our representative with Swiss Family Treks display board at the arrival gate. We will be then escorted to Hotel. Welcome drink and we will give you a short briefing you’re your trek and relax at Hotel Yak and Yeti.
Day 02: Kathmandu City Tour:
Today after breakfast we start a guided tour to several of the most historical and spiritual attractions in Kathmandu Valley. Some of these landmarks are considered World Heritage Sites; including the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupati Nath, the famous 'Monkey Temple' (Swoyambhunath) and Buddhists shrine (BouddhaNath) which is one of the large Stupas in the world. At the noon, there will be a pre-trip discussion where we can meet our trek leader and other team members brief you regarding your trek as well as provide you opportunity to ask any questions you may have regarding your upcoming adventure. Stay overnight at Hotel Yak and Yeti.
Day 03: Fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara, drive to Phedi 1130m and trek to Dhampus Village 1650m/3hrs,
Early in the morning, our car will come to pick up your hotel and transfer to domestic airport. Then, 35 minutes with scenic flight to Pokhara towering Langtang Himal, Ganesh Himal, Manaslu and Annapurna massif and have a breakfast. Then drive to Phedi which takes about 1 hour. We will start to climb steeply for an hour and then less steep climb up through the Rhododendron forest with following a stone staircase until reaching on the top of ridge which takes about 1 hour. We continue again another 30 minutes further plain dirt road and arrive in Dhampus Village. We will have our lunch and afternoon free for resting. From the lodge, there are sweeping views of the entire Annapurna Range and Machhapuchhre as well as Dhaulagiri I. We will stay overnight at Ker & Downey Basanta Lodge.
Day 04: Trek from Dhampus Village to Majgaon 1600m/4hrs,
In the morning after breakfast, we will gently climb up through the rhododendron and oak forest until reaching Pothana which takes about 1 and half hour. We can see the excellent view of Machhapuchhre. Then after, we start out trekking through the unspoiled village of Patlekhet. Our walk takes us through sub-tropical forests that include tree orchids, rhododendrons and magnolias. It takes around 2 hours to reach in Majgaon where tribal-style houses and manicured garden comprise the Gurung lodge on the edge of the Majhgaon. Located with the views of surrounding valleys are truly incredible and provide excellent photographic opportunities. We will stay at Ker & Downey Gurung Lodge.
Day 05: Trek from Majgaon to Landruk 1565m/4hrs,
In the morning after breakfast, today’s trek contours the side of the hill, with small ups and downs, passing through villages and farmland until reaching a Gurung settlement of Landruk village, a typical village of the Gurung community who are also known as the famous Gurkhas. Landruk affords more glorious views of the Annapurna range. We can see a second largest Gurung village of Ghandruk high above us on the opposite side of the river. Trek time to the Lodge is about 4 hours. We will stay overnight at Ker & Downey La Bee Lodge.
Day 06: Trek from Landruk to Ghandruk Village 1940m/4hrs,
In the morning after having breakfast, we will descend knee-crunching stone staircase for 45 minutes to Modi Khola where you need to cross over Iron Bridge. Here you start steep switch back climbing uphill on more than 3 thousand stone steps and you will be at the base of the cliffs where the famed honey hunters of Nepal climb on ropes to collect the honey. Continuing our trek to Ghandruk, the trail ascends and steepest before we reach at Ghandruk which takes about 3 hours of walking and this is a largest Gurung (popular ethnic group from western region of Nepal) settlement in the area with the closest views of Annapurna and Machhapuchre to the north and evening enjoy exploring the local village and people with traditional dressed. This village is locally known as Konda Village in their local language. Konda means Stone; we can see all the walking trail and house when we are entering in the village. We will have our lunch and visit a very interesting old traditional Gurung Museum and recently built Buddhist Monastery in the middle of the village, which we can make side trip for the evening. We will stay overnight at Ker & Downey Himalaya Lodge.
Day 07: Trek from Ghandruk to Nayapul 1070m/4hrs and drive to Pokhara,
In the morning after breakfast, we will leave the village and walk down on the stone paved stone staircase walking out through the outlying farms following the Modi River Valley. Soon we begin to climb out of the valley & up towards the mountains. The trail passes through small hamlets, terraced rice fields and forests with spectacular views of the surrounding valley until reaching Syaulibazar which takes about 2 and half hours. Then, we will follow the plain dusty road way along the Modi Khola until reaching Birethanti which takes about 1 and half hour. We cross a river over an iron bridge and have our lunch there. After lunch, we continue 30 minutes further to Nayapul along the Modi Khola and our car will be there to pick up. Then, we back to Pokhara by car which takes about 2 hours and transfer to Hotel. We will stay overnight in Temple Tree Resort and Spa.
Day 08: Morning Hike to World Peace Stupa and afternoon fly back to Kathmandu,
In the morning after breakfast, we will go to world peace stupa by car. We can see panoramic view of high Himalayan range from Manaslu to Dhaulagiri range including Machhapuchhre and Annapurna Massif as well as scenic Pokhara Valley and Phewa Lake. Then, we will walk down to Phewa Lake through the forest which takes about 1 hour and take a boat to cross a Phewa Lake passing the small Island where Temple Barahi is situated middle of the Lake. Afternoon transfer to airport, then flight back to Kathmandu. Our car will be ready to pick up in the airport and transfer to Hotel Yak and Yeti.
Day 09: Final Departure to International Airport as per your flight schedule.
The journey within the mountains of Nepal comes to an end today! There is nothing to do but you just trade emails to travel companions and organize your photos. If you have more time we can do some shopping or sightseeing. At last approximately 3 hours before our scheduled flight, a representative from Swiss Family Treks escorts us to the airport. On your way to home we will have plenty of time to plan your next adventure trip in the wonderful country of Nepal.
