Introduction to Gaurishankar and Rolwaling Valley Trek
Trekking in Rolwaling is one of Nepal's finest high mountain valleys West of the Khumhu, directly on the Tibetan frontier there is a wild, lonely high valley the "Rolwaling" which is called simply "the grave" by the indigenous Sherpa's on account of its location - buried down between steep ice-giants. Many mysterious stories have been passed on about this valley. Through which the forefathers of the present-day Sherpa's once came. It is here that the notorious and celebrated Yeti is supposed to make his home. Entire research expeditions have, so far unsuccessfully, attempted to find him. Very few tourist success to do trekking in this area, cause of its, covering the mountain terrain of the Nepal-China (Tibet) border, the trail to this pass goes between huge mountains along glaciers, situated in eastern parts. Rolwaling is the east-west valley below Gauri Shankar (7145m), just south of the Tibetan border. This area is culturally diverse and densely forested and isolated. Rolwaling provides spectacular mountain scenery with peace and incredible views. Rolwaling possesses an immense wealth of flora & fauna. The forefathers of the present-day Sherpa's have passed down many mysterious stories over the ages about this hidden region. The most famous one is that the mysterious mountain creature Yeti is supposed to have made his home here.
Itinerary in details
Day 1: Arrival Kathmandu pickup from SFT staff transfer to hotel, welcome drink - Tour briefing and equipment check at convienient time.
Day 2: A full day sightseeing within the Kathmandu valley with our tour guide by private car.
Day 3: Drive from Kathmandu to Barabise 960m, stay overnight at tented camp.
Day 4: Trek from Barabise to Kavre 1605m, stay overnight at tented camp.
Day 5: Trek from Kavre to Dolongsa 1900m, stay overnight at tented camp.
Day 6: Trek from Dolongsa to Bigu Gompa 2519m, stay overnight at tented camp.
Day 7: Trek from Bigu Gompa to Chilangka 1407m, stay overnight at tented camp.
Day 8: Trek from Chilangka to Bulong 1890m, stay overnight at tented camp.
Day 9: Trek from Kulong to Shalu 1500m, stay overnight at tented camp.
Day 10: Trek from Shalu to Simigaun 2000m, stay overnight at tented camp.
Day 11: Trek from Simigaun to Forest Camp 2800m, stay overnight at tented camp.
Day 12: Trek from Forest Camp to Beding 3694m, stay overnight at tented camp.
Day 13: Explore to Yalung Ri 5630m, stay overnight at tented camp.
Day 14: Trek from Beding to Na 4180m, stay overnight at tented camp.
Day 15: Explore to Tsho Rolpa Lake and back to Na, stay overnight at tented camp.
Day 16: Trek from Na to Forest Camp 2800m, stay overnight at tented camp.
Day 17: Trek from Forest Camp to Chetchet 1370m, stay overnight at tented camp.
Day 18: Trek from Chetchet to Suri Doban 1030m, stay overnight at tented camp.
Day 19: Trek from Suri Doban to Dolakha 1732m, stay overnight at tented camp.
Day 20: Trek from Dolakha to Charikot 1554m, stay overnight at tented camp.
Day 21: Drive from Charikot back to Kathmandu by private land cruiser - transfer to hotel.
Day 22: Transfer to airport at the requested time - flight to onward destination.
