WEST & FAR WEST; HUMLA, SIMIKOT AND MUGU

To the west of the Dhaulagiri Himal, there are small clusters of mountains, such as Kanjiroba Himal, Saipal Himal and the most western Api Himal. Only two peaks are over 7000m high. They are Saipal (7031m) and Api (7132m), both of which were first climbed by a Japanese party in 1960 respectively .

The main peak is Kanjiroba Himal (6883m). There are more than ten 6000res in this region. It is not too much to say that Rara National park with the Rara Lake, which is to the west of the Kanjiroba mountains, is the one of the few places that trekkers visit in West Nepal. Besides Rara Lake, there are many other attractive spots in this area, including the recently opened Humla Valley. With the improvement of the roads and transportation, the day will come when trekking in West & Far West Nepal draws much more attention.
