Taste of Terai, 5 Days
DAY 01:
Upon your arrival (at bus station, Airport or by Private car) our team will pick you up and drop you at the resort. Welcome drink with traditional tea « Nepali masala dud Chiyaa » and « Pop Cookies ». According with your time arrival, we will serve you a lunch and bring you for a guided visit of Sauraha Village with the Tharu Ethnic Museum. For observing the birds living in Terai, we will provide you binoculars and our guide will bring you by walk to the Rapti River bank. Back to the Resort for dinner.
Following your wish, our Chief will cook for you : Typical Tharu Bhat and local chicken. Our goal is to invite our customers to taste local specialties the « Tharu Bhat » a delicious rice unknown by tourists, it is a very rich rice deeply tasty cooked with « ghiu », the local buffalo butter. The « local chicken » is cooked in a masala sauce containing 7 different spices and organic vegetables. To complete the dishes, you will taste the « Achar », a kind of chutney.
If you go for western dishes (French or Spanish) our cook will let you discover the French delicious « Poule au Pot «, a chicken cooked with mixed vegetables, served on its own juice and a fine white sauce. Afterwards, a sampling of the famous « Himalayan French Cheese » (according to availability) made in Nepal and named in French « Tomme de Savoie ». BBQ and Vegetarian food are also available with organic market vegetables, we're including a beer for each dinner during the 4 days and one bottle of wine on the third night. During winter time, we will spend some time around a bonfire in the garden. Overnight at the resort.
DAY 02:
After a lavish breakfast (Hot beverages such as milk/black tea or coffee, lemon tea or hot lemon juice / Cornflakes or Muesli / 02 boiled or fried eggs with buttered toasts or Pancake with butter or honey or French « crepe » topped with butter and cinnamon or with honey / fresh fruit juice (according to the season), departure by horse riding for the « 20 000 lakes’ Area ». This is a relaxing trail, accessible to any rider’s level. This unspoiled area is ideal for observing wild animals such as migrated birds, wild boars and elephant, unicorn rhino etc... You will enjoy a picnic surrounded by the nature. On the way back to the resort, we will stop at the Elephant Breeding Center for admiring these Giants and their babies .Then, we will reach the Rapti River banks and the Sunset point for bathing the horses and sharing a refreshment. The dinner will be served at the resort with a delicious nepali, french or spanish dish. Overnight at the resort.
DAY 03:
After the breakfast, we will offer you a relaxing Ayurvedic Massage provided by professional hands and using traditional oils. Before the lunch, free time for shopping in Sauhara center. A wide range of shops will offer you the opportunity to buy Tharu Art, music, postal card’s, books etc…A BBQ will wait for you at the Rapti River Side !
During the afternoon, we offer you two options:
- You can enjoy a jungle walk with our guide for observing the jungle life.
- With a supplement of 60 US / person, we can organize for you a Jeep Safari, the easiest way to get an idea of the nature diversity into the Chitwan National Park. The expert naturalists will teach you all the secrets of the wild animals haunting the jungle.
DAY 04:
Before the breakfast, transfer to the river bank for two hours canoeing aboard a traditional tharu boat. You will share with wild animals, the pure poesy of the sun rise, and feel an inner peace mixed with the excitement, just unforgettable …(Instead of canoeing, you can also go for horse riding).Back to the Resort for the breakfast and relaxing.
After the lunch, few options such as:
- Transfer to Sauhara village for shopping or
- Two hours Elephant riding in the jungle. For this experience, we have selected carefully the Mahouts (elephant riders) for their good treatments and care of the animals. You will leave Sauhara village to enter deep inside the jungle and have a great chance to observe the animals in their environment without disturbing them.
DAY 05:
After the breakfast, transfer to your departure point. End of our services.

NOTE: In case of emergency during the trip, Helicopter will be arranged by Swiss Nepal Family Trekking & Expedition (P) Ltd. The charges must be paid by the clients themselves.

TOUR CANCELLATION:
There will be a cancellation fee of 25% for any cancellation three weeks prior to Tour departure date, 50% two weeks prior to Tour departure date and no refund thereafter. No refund for no shows & delay arrivals whatsoever reason.
