Nar Phu Valley Trek traverse Tilicho Lake is one of the off-beaten treks in Nepal that features the hidden valleys of Nar and Phu located north of the Annapurna massif. Trekking in Nar Phu valley was only opened in 2003 and remains a restricted area requiring entry permits, hence, the villages and the terrain of the valley have stayed quaint and pristine. Nar Phu Valley Trek offers the breathtaking view of massive mountain peaks, natural diversity, traditional remote villages, Tibetan lifestyle, high passes, and pristine lakes and waterfalls. 

The 18-days trek to Nar Phu Valley and Tilicho Lake offers an opportunity to explore the wild and uncharted areas of Nepal. The journey starts with the drive from Kathmandu to Jagat. You begin the trek following the gradual up and down trek to Dharapani. On your way, you come across several passes, unique rock formations, narrow canyons, glaciers, the forested path filled with rhododendrons and oaks, ancient monasteries, and traditional village settlements. The trek takes you to the beautiful Phu village, where you can visit the old Buddhist Monastery known as Tashi Lakhang Monastery (listed in the 108 world’s greatest Buddhist monasteries). The trekking trail then leads to Nar village, which offers the extraordinary view of Pisang Peak (6091m). The trek also requires crossing the challenging high passes of Kang-La (5322m) and Mesokanto-La (5200 m). The trail passes through the beautiful village of Manang before reaching the turquoise Tilicho Lake, which is the world’s highest lake. The trekking journey ends in the town of Jomsom. This trekking route offers trekking in the most remote and untouched areas of the Annapurna region.

Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu 1338m

Pick up at Tribhuvan International Airport and transfer to your hotel in Kathmandu. Overnight at a 4-star hotel in Kathmandu. 

Day 2: Permit Procedure and Full Day Guided Sightseeing Tour in Kathmandu Valley by private van
We drive around Kathmandu valley visiting UNESCO World Heritage Sites that include Swayambhunath, Pashupatinath, and Boudhanath. These places reflect the cultural and religious diversity in Kathmandu. Overnight at a 4-star hotel in Kathmandu. 

Day 3: Drive from Kathmandu to Jagat 1300m/8-9 hours
Leaving the capital city behind, we drive to Jagat, moving alongside Trishuli and Marsayangdi rivers, simultaneously. Relishing the roadside view throughout the ride, we arrive in Jagat. Overnight at a lodge in Jagat. 

Day 4: Trek from Jagat to Dharapani 1860m/5-6 hours
For our first day of the trek, we head towards Dharapani. We begin our trek gradually climbing up to Chamje, and after crossing the suspension bridge over Marsayangdi River, we follow the steep rocky trail till Tal village. Stumbling across the waterfalls in Tal, we continue to trek to Dharapani. Overnight at a lodge in Dharapani. 

Day 5: Trek from Dharapani to Koto 2600m/5-6 hours
Leaving Dharapani, we enter the forested trail to reach Bagarchhap, where we can visit the whitewashed monastery. We then ascend steeply towards Timang, which offers a good view of Lamjung Himal (6983m) and the Annapurna massif. Again, following the forested trail, we arrive in Koto. Overnight at a lodge in Koto. 

Day 6: Trek from Koto to Meta 3570m/6-7 hours
After registering the area permit, we begin our trek moving alongside the bank of Naar Khola and enter the forested path passing many suspension bridges and streams until we reach Dharmasala. Relishing the view of a waterfall near Dharmasala, we continue to trek again through forested trail before ascending steeply to Meta village. Overnight at a lodge in Meta. 

Day 7: Trek from Meta to Kyang 3840m/4-5 hours
We begin our trek gradually climbing up and down the trail before crossing suspension bridges over different streams. We walk past the big Chortens near Naar Phedi and enter the forested path up to Mahendra Pul. We then continue to trek crossing Mruju Khola as we head towards the high plateau of Kyang. We also pass through remnants and ruined forts of the Khampa settlement at places like Jhuam and Chyakhu before we reach Kyang. Overnight at a lodge in Kyang. 

Day 8: Trek from Kyang to Phu 3900m/3-4 hours
We continue to trek on the rocky trail until we reach Phu village. We can get the sight of blue sheep, along the way. Phu is a village inhabited by mixed ethnic groups like Gurung, Ghale, and Tibetans, where we get to understand their unique culture and lifestyle. We also visit the ancient Buddhist monastery known as Tashi Lakhang Monastery, which is believed to be the last monastery constructed by Karmapa Rinpoche. Overnight at a lodge in Phu. 

Day 9: Trek from Phu to Nar 4100m/6-7 hours
Today, we head towards the village of Nar. Crossing the suspension bridges over small streams, we reach Mahendra Pul. We then continue to ascend through steep trail passing Chortens, Mani walls, and stupas to finally reach Nar. Upon reaching Nar, we pass through the entrance gate of Nar, which reflects ancient Buddhist culture. Nar is slightly bigger than Phu and offers the awe-inspiring view of Pisang Peak (6091m). Overnight at a lodge in Nar. 

Day 10: Trek from Nar to Ngawal 3660m/6-7 hours traverse Kang-La 5322m
We kick off our day by trekking uphill to Jhombu Kharka aka Kang-La which hosts an outstanding view of Annapurna range, Dhaulagiri range, and the other Himalayas. On our way to Kang-La, we may come across some yak herder’s camps. After relishing the beautiful panorama of the Himalayas, we trek downhill to Ngawal. Overnight at a lodge in Ngawal.

Day 11: Trek from Ngawal to Manang 3540m/3-4 hours
Trekking downhill, we explore some monasteries on our way to Braga. From Braga, we trek for an hour to enter the valley of Manang. We then hike up to Chhunker viewpoint which hosts a spectacular view of Gangapurna Lake (3500m) along with Annapurna range, Tilicho Peak (7134m), Pisang Peak (6091m), Chulu Peak (6429m),  and the other Himalayas. Later, we explore the Cave Gompa on our way back to a lodge in Manang where we would be spending our overnight stay. We get to enjoy the typical Thakali food in the small town of Manang. Overnight at a lodge in Manang.

Day 12: Trek from Manang to Tilicho BC 4150m/5-6 hours
Leaving Manang, we head towards Tilicho Base Camp ascending through the steep trails till we reach Khangsar. Enjoying the amazing view of mountain peaks like Annapurna range, Tilicho Peak (7134m), Gangapurna Himal (7454m), and other snowy peaks, we reach Siri Kharka and pass the infamous landslide area to finally reach Tilicho Base Camp. Overnight at a lodge in Tilicho BC.

Day 13: Trek from Tilicho BC to Tilicho Lake 4920m/3-4 hours
Today, we head towards the pristine Tilicho Lake (4920m), ascending through a steep and slippery moraine. Walking through Annapurna Glacier, we make a tough climb through a rock fall area to arrive at the mesmerizing Tilicho Lake. Tilicho Lake is the world's highest lake for its size. We can enjoy a great view of the high mountains surrounding the turquoise lake as we breathe in the tranquil environment. Overnight at a tented camp in Tilicho Lake. 

Day 14: Trek from Tilicho Lake to Dharmasala 4230m/6-7 hours traverse Mesokanto-La 5200m 
Today we need to cross another high elevation pass i.e. Mesokanto-La Pass (5200m). We ascend through the steep rocky trail to reach Mesokanto-La, which offers the amazing view of Dhaulagiri (8167m), Annapurna I (8091m), and the other Himalayas. We then continue to descend steeply to Dharmasala through the rocky trail. Overnight at a tented camp in Dharmasala. 

Day 15: Trek from Dharmasala to Jomsom 2710m/4-5 hours
Leaving behind Dharmasala, we descend to the picturesque town of Jomsom, which serves as the starting and ending point for many fantastic treks. It is also the main trade center of the Mustang region. We also pass through a goat farm and relishing the view of mountain peaks in the background, we arrive in Jomsom. Overnight at a lodge in Jomsom. 

Day 16: From from Jomsom to Pokhara 820m/20 minutes
We catch our early morning scenic flight to Pokhara from Jomsom. Throughout the flight, we can enjoy the scenic and glorious view of the Annapurna range. We check into a hotel in Pokhara and then go sightseeing for your own or explore lakeside area. Overnight at a 4-star hotel in Pokhara. 

Day 17: Fly from Pokhara to Kathmandu 25 minutes
Today, we return back to Kathmandu catching an early morning flight from Pokhara. We transfer you to the hotel in Kathmandu and give the rest of the day to yourself. You can either take a rest or shop around the market in Kathmandu. Overnight at a 4-star hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 18: Final Departure from Kathmandu
Our company representative drops you off at the international airport for your final departure back home.
